Keep on calling SSN office and ask the status. After 1month ask them to expedite the request. It may take morethan 6months also as the systems are not in sync and ssn has to get confirmation from uscis.

I know this is irrelevant in a way but see it from a different angle for one moment. There is no other forum where you can get any information about these H1 employers who are playing games using retrogression. This is the only forum where most of the people on H1 are related to some desi consulting company and can share their experiences which would help other people who are in huge pain due to the unfair practices of their existing employers.
I would recommend the administrators to create a separate area on this forum where people can share these experiences and find genuine employers.

I am currently working for Company A which sponsors my H1B. I wonder if I can work for another company on a part time basis. What's the requirement for concurrent H1B filing? And does concurrent H1B filing requires a new H1B application against the quota? Please provide guidance.
YOu can get second H1 for part-time. Ensure that the hours are correctly represented. New h1B will not be against quota. Review the I-129 application form. You will realize under what circumstances will you come under quota.

I want to transfer from H1B to F1.I came to US as a F1 and graduated in march 08.I got my H1B on oct 08.But now i want to transfer to F1 again and i had my visa till 2011. I had following doubts and please help me.
1) I heard that i can transfer to F1 from H1B without canceling(but deactivating H1B) is it true.
2) How much time does it take if i apply for change of status for F1?
3)can i take cpt in F1 and later on can i change to H1 by applying change of status?

Hi,
My PD is 2006 under EB-2 category. My family and I filed for GC on the same day. Now, I am planning to file a new I-140 under EB1. My kid is going to be 18 soon. What is the age limit for dependent to file for GC with the parents?

I just got off the phone with a second level rep at USCIS and am getting really confused with their mixed messaged. before i push any panic buttons can some one please let me know if they had any conversations with the idiotic bunch at uscis and share your conversations with regards to the visa availability for next month. this idiot states that vsc just oversubscribed and that it could be that there wont be any movement on the cases. all this over enthusiasm for nothing - that would really infuriate me. there is a limit to the fuss they can cause and play with emotions.
Let us look at it positively. Sept dates are already published. Therefore, centers are now free to assign visas for cases they may have already preadjudicated, but wait for issuing approvals until September. It is quite possible that all the visas available have already been assigned to these preadjudicated cases, and they are now just waiting for September to come so that they can issue formal approvals

I am in a very Bad situation it seems, please help.
I am working in US on L1B visa and Wife on L2. then Wife got a Job and her employer filled her 485.
In the mean time I applied for H1 (through a consultant, to get out of the L1B company). Looks like the H1 Got Approved. Now, I think the problem is, If I switch to H1, then she will loose her job and our chance of Getting EAD will go.
I do NOT want to go for H1, but EAD Is important to me. Is there a Way I can keep my L1? (so that my wife can keep her job)
Please help

if it is a change of status approval with an I-94, then you need to get out of the US on or before the day the change of status becomes effective and then return back to the US on or after the day the change becomes effective with your current L visa.

My husband just had his performance appraisal today. He is presently working as a Senior Consultant.What we are wondering is that if there is any change in the designation, will it affect the GC process in any way ?
We got our I-140 last month and EAD two weeks back.
Kindly advice us on this.

Yes , we received an RFE letter seems after RFE expiration date. but USCIS online case status still shows case was received and pending. it did not talk about RFE letter was sent

The Cover letter shows the confirmation with employer name and SOC code and Dallas BEC # . It says that ETA750 is enclosed which of course is mailed to lawyer.
So you mean to say that I can file another I140 just with additional information when I receive the package or wait for RFE and then send the originals.

If it is not too urgent for you to visit India. I would recommend you reschedule your flight and do H1 in PP. Its just too risky to assume that you will get approval notice before your vacations ends and you will be able to schedule appointment and get stamping done. If I were you, would have postponed unless its absolutely urgent.

I am doing same thing for about one month but don't know what is happening. I talked to one travel agent in Mumbai and he is asking for Rs 3500 to get Hindi appointmnet. I don't know if people again started any trick to book appointments..

Here is my h1b status:
1. We have applied for H1B visa extension in premium on March 23rd, 2010.(for 15 months, as I have this period remained on H1 6 years and I-140 not approved yet).
2. I have joined new client on March5th new project, new location.
3. USCIS raised RFE on March 9th, 2010 but not received the RFE document.
4. My employer sent H1B Amendment documents on March 15th, 2010 with new LCA.
5. Received RFE document on March 30th, 2010 from USCIS and replied on March 31st to USCIS.
6. USCIS approved case on April 10th, 2010 with 1 year duration, which is May 2011.
7. USCIS approved amendment on Dec 5th, 2010 which is valid until Aug 20th, 2011 which the max of 6 years period.
Now question, it means my H1B visa valid until Aug 2011?
Means your H1B petition is approved till Aug 2011. Visa is needed to reenter US once you leave.
